The Internet Geek
Hey, there! I’m Kressa (Kree-sah; the self-proclaimed Internet Geek) and thanks for stopping by. I love anything cute, eye-catching, geeky, unique, cool web apps and content, and anything about the paranormal. The first site I probably ever admired for its cute (kawaii) content is Kao-ani.com [and the rest is history, literally!] Read on to see what I mean. So what’s the purpose of this site? It has several purposes: a place to blog about anything and everything. It’s also a place where I can add my collection of various links and things that interests me. But mostly as a place to share with others. Though some of the content here may seem absurd or random to others, I think it’s great keeping a collection of whatever is on your mind at the moment; looking back on them later on really makes you think.
A History
My first passion has always been playing violin, web and graphic design became a big part of my life later down the road (called high school). I got started when I was just into drawing traditionally and when a high school Geography teacher had given us a project to ‘make a web site‘ presentation (topic: Three Gorges Dam) is when I got my crash course intro to Web Design (thanks to Mr. Moore). And a little nudge from a friend who said I should get into it like she did. Then Angela and I joined Web Design club in our high school and even competed in the 2003 Great Computer Challenge held at Old Dominion University, Webb Center.
My biggest inspiration when it comes to art comes from Naoko Takeuchi’s Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon series, or Sailor Moon (US) for short. The very first time I saw it on television was when it was on the USA network first thing in the morning. Then Cartoon Network started bringing in a string of other shows such as Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, and you guessed it—Sailor Moon! It was an otaku-overload. Other interests of mine include photography, learning a foreign language, and playing violin.
I also used to do link exchanges throughout the Web (around 2001-2002). I stopped coding for awhile—the last time I did any real coding was for several assignments/projects and a final in Basic Web Design. I also took Advanced Web as part of my studies in college. Here’s where you might’ve found me early in 2000-2001 to present-day.
- Asianavenue.com (Now called asianave.com): I think I started with this one back in 1999 or 2000. I`m not quite sure — the amount of HTML you could put on your page was soooo limited and I really didn’t like that, so I decided to move out of there; it was suggested to me by an old friend.
- Angelfire: I did spend some time here also because I had a friend who used to be on there and I think that’s why I signed up. I’m not even sure what the name I used for this site, sooo…
- Bravenet.com: This one was pointless also, I used it the same time I had my other geocities account, but never kept up with it — I don`t even know why I had 2 at the time! I think I was just obsessed with learning HTML that I needed something to keep myself pre-occupied while I slacked off in in some of my classes, especially when it got to my senior year, 2002-2003.
- Deviantart.com: Here’s where I post up all the drawings and whatnots I`ve done over the years. Hopefully I can find the stuff I drew back in middle school when I was big on Sailor Moon .. hehe. I have so much drawings and sketches I`m working on these days and trying to get posted on here as fast as I can.
- Facebook: I’m currently on Facebook now and for some time I did close my account and then came back.
- Geocities.com (different username): I used this one for a while when I was looking for someone to host me online — why I didn`t bother to keep the domain I bought 2 years ago, I don`t know — I got a lil tired of the name of it that I don`t even bother talking about it =/ For a while, I used my other one — I think I was on it from 2000-2001. So sad, but oh well. I moved on. I stopped at version 71 before I got hosted.
- Hapanese.com: I was going to keep this one up-to-date for my friend, since it’s her domain .. but eventually, we never got to it =/
- Perfect-Moment.net (No longer used): From geocities, I got hosted by Jenn [don`t know her new URL these days, she gave P-M.net to one of the other hostees that`s been with her longer than I have].
- Livejournal.com: Same concept, don`t know why I have another blog — I haven`t updated it in a long time though. I think the last time I touched it, it was sometime during the 2004-2005 school year =/
- KaraokeParty.com(kressaM): My friend, AngieD told me to sign up to this just because she wanted someone to play along with her on that site. I couldn’t help but accept a singing challenge—even though she’s suppose to be better than me because she was in Madrigals. HA!
- Makeshiftonline.net: Another one the same friend told me to sign up to. It was pointless.
- Myspace.com (closed account): But apparently someone on Myspace [currently] who shares the same name, is using my old username. And apparently, Myspace is also the one who got me out of the habit of coding properly.
- Plurk: I joined this like back in October 2009 just to shamelessly plug Zak Bagan’s Facebook Fan page.
- Prov Project (Photos): This one is actually in Graphic Solutions Team my 4th year. We worked with students from Roger Williams Middle School in Providence, RI learn about basic photography, digital photography, and taking pictures with digital cameras.
- Stumble Upon: You never know what you’ll find.
- Technorati: This is recent.
- Twitter: You can follow me on Twitter.
- Web Canvas: I’ve only been here once, but I did leave my mark up there already. He’s kind of tiny though — I drew my ‘White Bunny’ character. I think he was saying, “White Bunny will eat you for breakfast.“
- Xanga.com (closed account): A member since October 2002. Chris Choi was my hero on that site. His posts were hilarious.
- YouTube: Who hasn’t been on YouTube? I posted some of the more memorable and funny moments. There’s one of Roxas, one of my sugar gliders up there too. *Videos are in Ilocano.
